The Columbia County Youth Theatre (CCYT) will present a free performance of The Pied Piper on the stage at the Crandell Theatre in the Village of Chatham. The performance is directed by CCYT founder Edgar Acevedo and will take place on Saturday, July 8 from 12:30-1:00 PM as part of the 2017 Chatham Summerfest organized by the Chatham Area Business & Arts. This will be only the second time that there has been a live performance on the Crandell Theatre stage since the early 1950s.

The Pied Piper is a not-so-traditional musical retelling of the story of Hamlin and the mayor’s attempt to rid the village of rats. Audience members become rats, villagers and even take part in the theft of the local baker’s prized Rice Krispy Treats. Join cast members Emily Allen, Olivia Allen, Matthew Antalek, Kiersten Berry, Erin Curry, Danielle DeLamater, Eddie Knight, Coltin Luckfield and Kate Metcalf for a fun filled 30 minutes of laughs.
This premiere performance at the Crandell is a collaborative effort between CCYT, the Chatham Film Club.

The Columbia County Youth Theatre is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. Besides having it’s own performance company and summer musical theatre program for children ages 6 – 9, CCYT also produces and develops the Hudson Intermediate School Drama Clubs as well as the Mac-Haydn Summer Musical Theatre Workshop.
